Looking for great kitchen essentials for your first apartment? We’ve got you covered with the best!

Decorating your first kitchen is not easy (or cheap), but having the kitchen essentials to make sure you cook more is a must!
We used to eat out allll the time, but having great kitchen essentials that are cute, durable, and will last have helped us save so much money in the long run. We went from eating out probably 5 times a week, to maybe just once or twice.
If you’re purchasing for your first apartment, make sure you’re saving as much money as possible. Purchasing all of the kitchen essentials can hurt your wallet at first, but in the long run you’ll save a ton!
This post is all about the best kitchen essentials.
Appliances
1. Ninja Coffee Maker
This is number one on our list FOR A REASON. We use this every single day, as we drink way too much coffee. It is definitely worth the investment. Pro tip: Bustelo is the best coffee brand!
2. Toaster
A toaster is an obvious must-have in any kitchen. But, I love the almost gold/silver look of this stainless steel toaster. It looks very simple, sleek and gets the job done!
Silverware & Dinnerware
3. Silverware Set
Another obvious kitchen essential is silverware. I feel like black is all the rage for silverware these days. It’s sleek, a bit sexy, and keeps more clean. Also, for 20 pieces this price is a steal!
4. Plates & Bowls
I love the simplicity of these plates & bowls. This set comes with 4 small plates, 4 large plates, and 4 bowls. I could definitely see this in tons of home decor styles like farmhouse, bohemian, minimalist. So simple but chic!
5. Wine Glasses
Let’s be honest we all need a little from time to time. I love the angular look of these wine glasses and there’s 8 so you’ll have plenty when you invite friends over! I’ve struggled to find wine glasses that look nice, most of them in grocery stores look too round, but these have the perfect look. Currently in our Amazon cart right now!
6. Mugs
We love a good souvenir mug, but simple white mugs are also a must! I love the two-tone lug of these mugs. They go beautifully with the plates listed above!
Cooking Supplies
7. Pots and Pans
Silver has gotten so boring for pots and pans. I think that these really match the vibe of the plates and mugs above. Having a set of pots and pans that looks good will make you want to cook more! Also, the price for this set is a steal when compared to most sets of pots and pans!
8. Cooking Utensils
These cooking utensils are almost a perfect match for the pots and pans set. This is a huge set of cooking utensils with 26 pieces. It comes with spatulas, spoons, measuring spoons, whisks, basically everything you need. And for a great price!
9. Baking Dishes
I love this baking dish set. You have FOUR different sizes AND it comes with lids. So many baking dish sets don’t have lids but honestly sometimes they’re a must!
10. Cutting Board
This is a great set because it comes with 3 different cutting boards. You’re gonna need more than one since it’s unsafe to cut veggies and meat on the same board. We also like to use one cutting board on the counter for decor because it gives a nice wooden accent to the kitchen.
11. Utensil Holder
You’re gonna need somewhere to put all your new cooking utensils. Don’t took them all away in your cabinets, instead use them as a nice decoration for your countertops. Also, if you have them out in the open, it will subconsciously encourage you to cook more without you even realizing, it’ll make that habit easier to form and harder to break!
12. Mixing Bowls
Now, personally we don’t do a ton of baking. However, if you’re into baking and want to make some great muffins, cakes, or cupcakes, these mixing bowls with 6 different sizes will come in handy! Even if you’re not much of a baker, these can be used as storage as well since they come with lids!
13. Oven Mitts
Don’t forget oven mitts! These are super great because they have a nice grip and super heat resistant. They’re also water-proof and have cotton lining so it’s soft on the inside. Also, they’re available in 10 colors.
14. Chef’s Knife Set
You will definitely also need to have a nice chef’s nice set to cut your meat. A normal kitchen knife won’t do the trick. While you’re on Amazon I would also check out a knife sharpener so you can keep them nice and sharp.
15.Can Opener
Pretty simple must have kitchen essential, but honestly I feel like it’s kinda one of those things that you forget you need until you have a can that you can’t open (so annoying). While you’re on the list go ahead and make the purchase before you run into that problem.
Storage
16. Food Storage Containers
Another must-have is storage containers. You don’t want to run into having leftovers and having nowhere to put them. Also, this is a good-quality, 18 piece set for cheap!
17. To-Go Containers
If you’re on the go every day like us, then you’ll need some cute to-go containers. These come with 2 containers and silverware so you never forget that. Whether you’re going to school, work, or the park you’ll love these. Also, they’re so cute!
Organization
18. Paper Towel Holder
Honestly, we still have no purchased a paper towel holder, but the space will look so much better with a nice paper towel holder. This one also hangs off the cabinets so it will free up counter space!
